Turbokids was started in late 2013 by a group of parents from a Junior School in Thames Ditton. Due to the popularity of Junior Triathlon, we have opened the Club to all Junior members and have become a Triathlon England affiliated club. Our club is very thankful to British Triathlon, the Elmbridge Council and the Surrey CC who have been instrumental in helping our club.
Richard Thevenon is the founder of Turbokids.co.uk. Originally from France, Richard started biking seriously in his teens before moving to Athletics and Swimming. Triathlon was a natural progression. For the past 25 years (showing his old age!) Richard has been competing in many triathlons up to Ironman distance as well as stand alone, swimming, running and cycling races. Throughout the years, Richard has created several running/ triathlon clubs as well as organising various events raising money for charities such as an endurance bike ride across the length of Malaysia, the infamous Trans Malaysia Express .
Richard is also an experienced swimming teacher and coach who ran a swimming school (SBR Coaching) for 4 years in Singapore before moving back to England in 2012.
